Have you ever wondered how to ethically forage the native plants in your own backyard and what you can make with them? Now’s your chance! Alongside our friends from Forage & Faire, Howesclere Evergreens & Gardens, Monica Ott from Forest Gifts and the Fraser Valley Conservancy; join us for a perfect fall evening where we’ll learn all about ethical foraging, native plant species, how to use the plants, and what plants to eat during our Foraging Workshop. Your ticket includes: A workshop on how to ethically forage with Monica Ott, Forest Gifts A? fresh bouquet from Howesclere Evergreens & Gardens Appetizers from The Chef’s Acre Beverages from Forage & Faire We acknowledge that this workshop takes place on the traditional and unceded territory of the Stó:lo people, the Semá:th and Mathxwí First Nation. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers. Because of this, we want to ensure that we aren’t foraging from just anywhere. Every year, the Fraser Valley Conservancy hosts two native plant sales which are a great opportunity for you to purchase high-quality, locally grown, native plants that you’ll be able to harvest from for your own needs. The Fall Native Plant Sale also acts as a fundraiser for FVC's charitable work. All proceeds are spent on their programs - creating more habitat for wildlife in the Fraser Valley. You can shop their Native Plant Catalogue on their website from August 21st – September 24th, 2023. If you plan on coming to the workshop on September 23rd, we highly recommend looking at the catalogue prior to attending so you can get your orders in before the sale ends the next day.
