Closer to home, in Canada, we have PIPEDA at the federal level, PIPA in Alberta and BC and Bill 64 in Quebec. Ontario has also tabled privacy legislation initiative. Quebec’s Bill 64 is one of the first in Canada to modernize legislative provisions to take into account today’s realities and add stringent enforcement mechanisms and hefty penalties for non-compliance.
