We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is the traditional and unceded territory of the Stó:lo.
The Abbotsford Arts Council is honoured to present the Indigenous Awareness Art Exhibition, an opportunity for the community to learn about Indigenous Arts, Culture, History and Traditions. The Kariton Art Gallery will host an opening reception on Saturday, June 1st to welcome this exhibition, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This event is free, and all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be be provided.
The Indigenous Awareness Art Exhibition will be on display at the Kariton Art Gallery from June 1st - June 25th, 2019. We invite you to join us in celebrating rich heritage and diverse cultures, with pieces from artists representing many Indigenous peoples. Thank you to Cedar, Sage & Sweetgrass - the Indigenous Arts Advocacy Group whom this exhibition was curated in collaboration with. Established in 1971, the Abbotsford Arts Council acts as a resource for local artists while promoting the vision, creativity, and energy of the Abbotsford community through the arts. Over 70 local arts, heritage and culture organizations receive support under the umbrella of the Abbotsford Arts Council, and the talents of hundreds of local artists are showcased by the Abbotsford Arts Council each year at the Kariton Art Gallery as well as programs and events that are family friendly and open to the entire community.
