Event Description:

Are you a local non profit Board member or administrator looking to learn some basics around grant writing? Curious about how to identify and approach potential public and private sources of funding? This workshop will outline these processes, and provide participants with an overview of the funding landscape in B.C. and across Canada.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:


Joseph Bardsley

Joseph is a multidisciplinary arts manager based in Vancouver, BC. He's currently Music on Main's Development Manager, and a grants consultant for the UBC School of Music. Prior to MoM, Joseph served seven seasons at Vancouver Opera as the company's grants manager, building on earlier roles at Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects.

Joseph presently sits on Vancouver Foundation's Systems Change cultural grant-making committee, and is a seasonal presenter on grant-writing for Simon Fraser University's undergraduate arts management program. He's been a music panelist for the Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council, the Province of BC, and the City of Vancouver. He's also received professional development awards from the Canada Council, and the BC Arts Council.

Joseph was a 2017 participant in the Cultural Human Resources Council's Talent 2 Lead program, and is a 2020 alumnus of the Banff Centre's Cultural Leadership program. He holds a BA, Journalism (2006).
