Job Description
We are currently seeking a Database Analyst Co-Op, for our Business Insights – Marketing Department located in our Corporate Office in Abbotsford.

Under the day-to-day direction of the Manager, Business Insights, the Database Analyst Co-op leverages data in strategic decision-making, and ensures the use of accurate and relevant information throughout all of the departments and branches in the organization.

What you’ll do:
     * Conducts data analysis on a variety of subjects including campaign development, results tracking, member acquisition/retention, and leads management. Gathers and communicates findings, delivering results in a comprehensible manner to a diverse set of stakeholders.
     * Designs and develops standardized reports and interactive dashboards for various stakeholders (operations, finance, treasury, sales, etc.) to support the use of data in strategic decision-making across the organization.
     * Uses business criteria to develop database queries, tapping into data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and other non-structured data sources. Analyses and interprets data to uncover insights and develop actionable outcomes.
     * Assists in the implementation of marketing programs and promotions. Leverages predictive modelling to determine best approach and tracks results to recommend changes to member, product, and marketing strategies.
     * Gathers and confirms project requirements by communicating with key business stakeholders and collaborating with other people on the project team.
     * Maintains Prospera’s enterprise level reporting portal to ensure reports and dashboards being used throughout the organization are accurate, relevant, and aligned with security and governance standards.
     * Actively educates people across Prospera to evolve and mature the level of data acumen, striving to establish a strong data culture across the organization.
     * Supports the BI Manager, and Marketing Database Analyst on duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:
     * Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks;
     * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
     * Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
     * Ability to compile and analyze data;
     * Demonstrated ability in attention to detail;
     * Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, organize and prioritize work;
     * Knowledge of business theory and marketing practices;
     * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Pivot Tables;
     * Basic knowledge of SQL;
     * Prior experience using Power BI is an asset

 

Selection Criteria
     * Completing an undergraduate degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or any other discipline with a focus on data and analysis;
     * Experience in the financial services industry would also be considered an asset;
     * Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note:

This is an 8 month term position with a possibility of extension to a 12 month term.
